Re: Proclamation of the role of magic

They way I've imagined it is that the Kirin'Tor oversees the training of all human magi, regardless of nation of existance. The Stormwind tower is part of the Kirin'Tor, overseen by Archmages which are members of the ruling council and given access to their full resources. The Stormwind tower do have an autonomy in most errands, much like the Arathorian tower, Nethergarde and Ambermill would have. But in all major matters, their archmages would be present in the Violet citadel council chambers and vote.

All the schools would feature a more or less identical novice training, a similar apprenticehood and then they would differ. If you want to specialise in conjuration you go to Stormwind, if you want to be a battlemage you go to Arathor. If you want to do generalized research you stay in Dalaran.

Ultimately, all magi trained by humanity (who arent rouge or hedge wizards, which are hunted across the world by the Kirin'Tor) are given licenses by them, have to apply for them for portals, summons and items and are entered in the huge lists of genealogy in the violet citadel (keeping track of magical heridity)

As such... I approve of this idea a lot.

Unfortunantely no, Jomir. Most of it is my own speculation and ideas, formed by taken bits and pieces from here and there. The only real "evidence" i have is that only Dalaran is known to produces mages (all others produce other arcane casters, like wizards) according to wowwiki and that there's one (or two) archmages in Stormwind, one of which seem to be in regular contact with the Kirin Tor.

Question. Seeing how humans are not the only race using magic, don't these rules apply to every magic wielder, regardless the race? Wouldn't that mean that the Chapter's range must expand further, in order to serve the Holy Light properly in those regards? Just curious, since you guys always preach about the Holy Light this and the Magic that, but only seem to concentrate this on Wrynn's lands.

Teaching of Anethion is only meant for Humans and High-Elves, so it is only natural the Chapter focuses on human lands. Not Stormwind per-se, potentially we could also hang around Stromgarde or Dalaran, Theramore or Southshore. Yes, the Chapter's reach must expand further if it was the only order serving the Light - the Chapter however believes the Light chose Anethion (and the chapter) to specifically focus on Human lands and that other prophets will take care of other races!

Well no, not Dalaran. As you'd have absolutely no authority there as the Dalarani Magi would be on guard.

We are not talking about what authority we have. Chapter is very proficient at ...assuming it has Authority. And getting its ass kicked for that.

I'm not sure the constant (gameshow) discussion of 'whose authority is it anyway?' is really needed in a game setting such as WoW's.

As it stands there are a multitude of threats to the world itself and frequent ceasefire agreements pop up in order to deal with the bigger threats. It makes no sense to raise arms against anything that would defend you against a larger threat (rogue dragonflights, the titans themselves etc.) and orcs and humans alike are well aware of this.

One major concern of keeping such peace agreements alive is not relentlessly mulling over who has the 'right' to be anywhere in order to avoid needless conflict. Shattrath is a good example of this, with arrakoa and those nexus-types (hurf forget the name) being welcomed under the guise of aiding the greater good.

I believe there's a great deal of difference between being unwelcome and being under arrest (under the conditions that your average Azeroth citizen lives in) is perhaps a better way of putting it Smile

You don't grasp Fanaticism do you? Roll an Alliance and rp with the chapter, then propose a ceasefire. They are awesome, but to them the biggest threat is free thinking.. Err.. Heresy.

The chapter welcomes cease-fires with the horde, however first the conditions must be met before any negotiation begins!
1) Every orc must die.
2) Every forsaken must burn
3) every troll must die
4) Horde must be dismantled.

We are not unreasonable, we are simply demanding.

I appreciate what you're saying but I'd imagine their antics would be treated differently based on what they actually do. I'm sure that an (unwelcome) protest against the abuse of magic would be allowed whereas actual enforcement of their percieved laws would, indeed, get punished :)

I'm simply hoping that Imanuel doesn't rule out the possibility of a trip to Dalaran for example based on the results being, as you can imagine, quite entertaining (if unpleasant)

The prospect of a dozen Kirin`tor arch mages coming in and dragging everyone involved with the enforcement of this proclamaition to the Violet Hold is quite interesting.

If somebody creates a magi-guild, I would be glad for an encounter with a counter-inquisition! Untill then I hope at least Blue Dragonflight supports our righteous rampage on the misuse of magic! *receives a love-letter from Malygos*....oooh...

Jazzle walks past the poster, whistling happily under the yellow haze, luminating the evening sky. He stops, and looks confused. Taking multiple steps backwards, and turning sharply to the wall, he quirks an eyebrow, and leans forward, inspecting the odd statement on the wall.
He adjusts his monocle, and runs his hand through his windswept, electric blue hair. Frowning he taps his chin...
"How preculiar... I wonder if they have a right to do this on Gnomish guests to the city?"
Losing interest, Jazzle's mouth brims into a cheery smile, and he continues his way towards the Tower of Magi in the centre of the district.

OOC: Will Gnomes and other foreign races have to agree to this? Or just humanity?
