Garrisons
When you build your Garrison, you will get a few starting buildings.
The Town Hall is your main point of interaction and is automatically placed.
All profession buildings are in the Small Buildings category. They will allow you to use an engineer follower to run missions to get engineering recipes and items.
The pet stable will have a trainer you can fight.
Large buildings are something you would expect to see in a WC3 base. Each building has a bonus. For example, the barracks will let you have more followers.
Buildings start out small and are upgraded over time.
Some upgrades can be purchased, but some are blueprints that you find in the world. They can be faction rewards, quest rewards, random world drops, or found in other ways.
Specializations allow you to customize a max level building. They can be changed once each day and may have a cost. You pick from one of three specializations.
Some buildings will allow you to assign followers to them. If you find a miner follower, he can work while you are offline collecting ore.
Managing your followers will be an important part of garrisons.
Fill plots to upgrade your tier. Plots come in multiple sizes.
Followers can be sent on Quests, Scenarios, Dungeons, or Raids. Raids may take party of a week and many followers.
You put the followers into a party and send them on missions. You get a bonus if you match traits on your followers to the missions.
When you send your follower somewhere in your Garrison, you will see the follower there.
Garrisons are unique per character, so there will be some kind of way to make it faster for alts.
There is no way to invite other players to your garrison when offline. You can invite a whole 40 player raid when you are online though
I figured to make a seperate thread for the Garrisons stuff so it didn't get lost :3

They're doing a lot already, but if each race could have its own architecture style that would be truly perfect. Great addition nonetheless, probably the best thing ever happened to RPers along with transmogrification.

I really hope they tie it in with guilds somehow so you'll be able to have a guild base that everyone can access (so the owner won't need to be online).

So seemingly as it currently stands... no, but it would be awesome if that changes.
And its really fucking awesome regardless

The next logical leap would be guild castles. 7.01 perhaps? Smile

Yeah, I'm really hoping we get the choice of more racial looking buildings or just altenratives from Orcish and Human buildings.

Would feel kinda awkward having a human garrison on my Night Elf and an orcish stronghold on my Undead.

Does anyone know: Will you be able to actually obtain all the different buildings? Or will you have to pick and choose?

You won't have enough plots to get all the different kinds of buildings, so there will be choices to make.

The "meh-est" thing they've announced with the expansion, if you ask me. I don't like how it turns a large and very important part of world of Warcraft into a single-player experience.

I would have preferred guild garrisons, or a server-wide progressed solution.

This will not add a lot to role-play either. It'll just be confusing, with everyone having their own individual housing in the exact same spot?

Meh I say. Meh.

EDIT: Great for ERP though.

Yeah. But that's not what we're getting.

We're getting a farm, but much, much bigger and much, much more important.

It can still be used as a guild base.
Option1: Use a dummy account.
Option2: Have the most online-idling players do the hosting after they've all agreed to build it on the same spot.

Oh btw locations are predetermined and can be switched. Sorry. No mountain bases.

Yeah, just watched it. The updated stuff is great, both the prop work and the models. I would have liked to see a liiiittle bit more on the "little piglet", but meh.

Oooh, you can choose which zone your base is in.
That makes it twice as interesting.

...And that would be pretty cool if that meant I could actually access it through my phone or browser.

A phone/browser game that grants actual in-game boons sounds pretty cool. But I'd like to play it on my phone, or in my browser. If I'm actually logged into WoW, I'd prefer to spend my time playing something in 3D.

They should put in a 'Commander' system that BF4 has in. Played in browser on a tablet or your PC, someone in a certain battleground (one like Tol Barad) drops in supplies like health pickups, damage boosts and makes beacons on the map telling the team where to go.
