[SW] The Company (Forlorn Cartel), and all there is to know about them

Forlorn Cartel chose not to use own forums or even a website to host news. Instead we will use DefiasRP. This thread is here for the information on the latest news, IC&OOC guild rules and upcoming events. For members and for outsiders alike. Upcoming Closed Events
Hrold the Keg's Wagon of Death : 11.08
Hrold the Keg is a shady dwarven military equipment dealer. This sunday he comes to Dwarven District to sell some of his wares. Some Company members will be there to upgrade their equipment. Yes, good man Hrold already paid his protection money. Smart people are no fun.
Tomb Raiding : 17.08
The Company and Damned Pearl have both gotten half of a map from Mistgrace's Auction that leads to the long-lost lair of an eccentric and evil fallen court wizard of Stormwind. Today they head to the location of the lair in an attempt to brave its many traps and riddles and obtain whatever valuable items may be within.
Areas under Tribute:

This map shows the way the Company sees Stormwind. Red Fists represent areas where the Company frequently does streetcrime like robbery and theft. Golden Coins represent areas where the Company receives money from illicit business and extortion. Green area is the area we believe to control. Blue is the area we believe to be full of guards and too dangerous for us to operate in.

This all is based on belief. If we enter the Cathedral square and do our crime for days without Guard opposition, we stop thinking the place to be dangerous and it is no longer shown as blue. Vice versa, if guards show us that they protect the Fragnant Flower and we can't collect there - that area stops being green.

This map is information, not a rulebook for a Risk-like minigame. RP > Rules.

Recent events:

  • 04.07 : Control regained of the Fragnant Flower, forcing them to pay protection money.
  • 06.07 : Special Stormwind Ale recipe has been obtained. Production of a product indistinguishable from the legal stuff has began somewhere in the Dwarven Commons.
  • 09.07 : Guards supressed a terrorist attack on the Cathedral. Dammit, the place must be crawling with bluehelmets and investigators!
  • 14.07 : Rend has had enough of guards coming in and out the Lady without a warrant like it was their own home. He and his men attacked and assassinated or wounded three guards - including Lt. Colonel Bronze. Guard reprisal was swift, and the Company was forced to flee Stormwind. With Headquarters fallen, profit from Stormwind cannot be collected and in time businesses may break away from their affiliation.
  • 08.08 : The Company is finally back in Stormwind, and already making its presence felt from their new HQ on Miner Street

How to have daily fun!:
So, you have joined the Company. Congratulations! We assume that you are here to have fun being a criminal, so go ahead and have fun! You don't need permission from officers to enjoy yourself. In fact, you should just find some other thugs and go out together. If you are a Proven, always try to bring a few Unproven with you and show them the ropes. Where to find people? We usually hang around the Shady Lady tavern. Anybody who is loitering on the porch is fair game to be taken along on a heist.

Here are some ideas to help you get started

Tax a Bridge
Bridges are natural chokepoints. If you take control of a bridge, you can tax anybody who passes through. That is called paying a toll. Find yourself a bridge and tax all who wish to cross it, if they refuse to pay up you should knock them out, take their stuff and dump them into the canals.

Work the Streets
Sometimes prey just wouldn't come to the hunter, and the hunter has to go and stalk the prey. Head out on the streets, waiting for lonely and defenseless targets. You can pick their pockets while another thug distracts them, you can take their stuff at gunpoint or just knock them out and collect from their limp body.

Sell Stuff
Ask members of officers for GHI drugs and head into the city selling them to hard-working people as the means to relax. It isn't actually illegal. Eat that, guards!

Be creative
Yep. This is a suggestion in which I don't really suggest anything! If you can find a completely different way to have criminal fun, go do it.
IC Announcements:

All announcements are spread in the Miner Street as word of mouth. If you are a regular, you know of them. If you don't know of them, you are a sad idiot.

Damned Pearl
We are friends with the Damned Pearl now. Treat them as pals and let them hang out on our turf, but make sure to give them a slap if they try to rob on our land without permission. Help the Pearl against King's Bane if you see 'em fighting. They may use the Florist as a home.

King's Bane
We are now allied with King's Bane. Make a mess and you will pay dearly. Do NOT mess this up.
Alliance with King's Bane:

1. Territory
The crew of King's Bane recognizes the unique claim of the Company to the whole of Dwarven District, the whole of the farmlands north of Dwarven District, canal side of Old Town and the canal side of Cathedral&Trade Districts east of the Cathedral-Trade bridge.

The Copmpany recognizes the unique claim of the King's Bane Crew to the whole area of the Docks and the Old Barracks.

The two groups may walk freely within all territories without paying tax but may not work the streets, sell or run protection on each others' territory without permission from the leadership.

The two groups agree to answer each others' call for help to defend their territory from a third party (except the Law Enforcement)

2. Partnership
The Company and King's Bane crew may invite members of the other party to their jobs, if the member accepts he is to be paid regular fee he would otherwise receive working for his own party. All profit made from shared jobs is to be split between the Company and King's Bane leadership per ratio of people asked and invited for the job.

If King's Bane ship is used, profit is shared after subtracting the costs of ammunition, supplies and repairs on the ship.

If King's Bane crewman and company employee team up for a job without the involvement of the Leadership they may decide how to split their income among themselves.

3. Conflict

King's Bane Crewmen and the Company employees may not harm one another (friendly brawls and fights aside) and may not damage or steal each others' property. All crewmen and employees must show respect to the leadership of the Company and King's Bane.

If a person has been invited to a job of the other party he must obey that party's leadership during the job as if it were his own.

If an offense takes place, the party on whose turf the disagreement happened may detain all people involved and must treat them gently. One from the Company's and one from King's Bane leadership will come together to hear the case and pass unanimous verdict. Vigilante retaliation will be seen as an offence.

Any clash that has been properly handled via judgement by two of the leadership cannot be used as a cause for the dissolution of the alliance.
OOC Rules:

If a member of the Forlorn Cartel broke the RP rules or mistreated you, screenshot the thing and contact Renukai, Bradley, Rethal or Rihani.

1) Absolutely no meta-gaming, power-emoting, god-emoting and lolling.
2) No prison escapes, unless it is a pre-arranged event and the guards agree; remember, "don't do the crime if you can't do the time".
3) RP in the most realistic way possible: you are a thief, a reject: speak, act and even dress according to it.
4) Follow the mob's IC rules as well, they are extremely important to our RP.
5) Always be kind and respectful towards everyone, be it guildies or not.
IC Rules:
These are the IC rules of the Company. Disobeying them can get you your face slapped red by the boss.

Short Version

  1. Don't be an idiot.
    a) If you can't take the heat, don't put your hand in the bloody furnace!
  2. Don't be a dick.


Long Version

  1. Obey the Boss and his underbosses.
  2. Respect those of senior rank.
  3. Don't try to kill other Company members
  4. Don't screw over other Company members big time
  5. You rat, you die. Seriously.
  6. 20% of the money you make goes to the Company. Don't hold out.
  7. Don't discuss Company matters where goodies can hear it.
  8. Don't do illegal shit without a mask and disguise.
  9. Don't attack the guards without Boss' permission.
  10. Don't stir trouble with guards and rival gangs without Boss' permission.
  11. Don't get lady-thugs pregnant.
  12. Don't bite more than you can handle. Think you can rob three death knights alone? YOU CAN'T!
  13. Don't backtalk the Boss and his underbosses if you want to keep your tongue.
  14. Don't go whining to superiors if somebody insults you. You are not a princess.

Winters don't we now use the Old Barracks as a secondary "lay low" hide-out and place to stash stuff when we are under suspicion with guards or on the run from them now?

This is superb, best thing I ever saw on the realm to stimulate fantastic RP, reminiscing here about GTA: San Andreas "Grove street for lyf homies!" xD. Fantastic little SW political, crime, business RP map. If there was a way to also incorporate Kings Bane equivalent "assets" and the Order of the Cobra it would be superb. Seems from what I gather the Kings Bane operate on a similar criminal model of what I call thug crime (perhaps green fists and green coins could denote their hit points and assets)

I'm guessing the Order of the Cobra have a different criminal business model though i.e. they don't do street crimes and tolling and associated thug crime that is high risk small reward and overtly visible. Though I imagine they probably extort big business though and own lots of shops selling illegally acquired goods. I dunno have to have Aweng and Mr Wade explain their criminal more mafia subtle style crime model to everyone. If the two groups of guards and three crime guilds can have like an OOC meeting once a week it might help plan out some role plays and scenarios linked to this UBER cool map pirat

Kings Bane have had quite a few successful crimes and delivered some beat-ups in the Gazebo area of late. They also have succeeded in a few muggings lately in the Old Barracks area, despite the area being sparsely populated and rarely having passers by.

But it was rumoured from the talk of the taverns that a dwarf with a crutch was riding a human mount and assisted the Kings Bane, while they were beating down on a disciple... I wonder who would attack someone while still crippled hmm... *scratches his chin in deep thought*

Due to the recent muggings, the Disciples have began to increase patrols of the canals directly outside the cathedral district and the area behind the Cathedral itself. However some of the Disciples seem keen to avoid the graveyard calling it "creepy"
