I'm willing to bet this ain't going to stop 'dem air drops either.

They where pretty implausible in the first place; Stormwind skies are littered with Griffon-guards. These off-screen, and thus, non-functional rules arn't going to stop them.

However, how do you arrange travel plans from say: Redridge or chillwind point to Stormwind using your own gryphon?

I.e: how do the aerial guards or the office of the flight master in stormwind get alerted to your coming?

considering the fastest, mount available is the flying mount... and well, if the guys i need to arrange it with, have access to portals, i'd take the damned portals. Considering those crystal communication things are rare, for them to be present in every flight-masters office. Or are we imaging flight-masters suddenly have continent wide radio's to their disposal. solely for this move to make sense?

since we're talking about travel plans here, I.e: Air traffic controllers.
And getting permission anywhere else but stormwind, won't inform stormwind officials that you're there and using the space until you are using the space, meaning you'll get escorted outside stormwind again...

It is my opinion that anyone entering Stormwind would have to go through the Gryphon Roost at the edge of the city, even if coming on their own flying mount. Then from there you'd take a ground mount, or arrange for aerial travel in the city with the flight master.

Hell, actually, the only people who would legally be allowed to fly around the city at all would be the aerial guardsmen and flight masters. Old world flying is called "Flight Master's License", any non-flight master has to go through the assigned flight master routes. I'd assume that most characters in RP do not have a Flight Master's License, since flight masters are uniformed transportation officials, meaning the common traveler would already be funneled through the Gryphon Roost on entry to the city.

Is it an illogical opinion, really? Look at Dalaran. It is visibly shown that all the travelers entering the city, regardless of being on their own personal mounts (such as Netherdrakes, gyrocoptors, and so on) are landing at the Gryphon Roost on entry to the city. Why wouldn't Stormwind be the same? Heck, Dalaran even had restricted air space as an in-game mechanic back during WotLK.

I think it'd be pretty expected that travelers be funneled through actual landing zones (as it'd be clear of obstructions, it'd be where they can be searched for contraband, it'd be where they can stable their flying mounts, and it'd be where they can pay for ground mounts for further access to the inner parts of the city) instead of being given free reign to fly and land wherever they want.

I think its interresting how you use game-mechanics, when it suits your logic.
Though: in the same way i could Logically Argue: If Stormwind would have restricted air-space, it would actually be restricted, just like in Dalaran, through game-mechanics.

However! Having said that:

If your opinion is:

drustai wrote:

Then why?:
Drustai wrote:It's to give people something to RP about, and as a logical response to the constant "corpse drops" since stronger patrols didn't stop them. It's also only going to be temporary.

basically what you're saying is: the logic is full of holes, the enforcement isn't even going to be IC, thus making it pointless, lastly: Nothing is stopping Black-Hand Flight-masters (peeps with the license) to arrange their own travel-plans to execute the corpse drops.

So A. your logic clearly demonstrate that this edict, isn't going to prevent any corpse dropping (since there's no difference).
B. this edict, isn't going to prevent the actual murders.

So the enterprise is pointless all together.

Edit:

So why even try to control how the general public of rpers, should RP with their flying mounts?

It gives the people of Stormwind RP. Perhaps to hate on the Council?

Or maybe they agree that such an action had to be put in place.

i think the whole point of this was to simulate the ic total lockdown of sw by the sw guards to try and combat the blackhand no? going into mecanics and lore on an ooc level is not realy warrented.. just go with the flow.. in any city if people are using flying be it grophens on wow or hellicopters irl to drop the dead onto the streets.. its only natural the guards or authoraty would make it more difficult to fly.. just go with the flow and enjoy it.. at the end of the day if you dont want to go along with this initiative no one is forcing you Smile

I for one think its a great idea as its representing the fact that the blackhand are becoming a real great and possibly dealdy threat..

Stormwind air space is restricted. You need a Flight Master's License. So unless someone's character is a licensed Flight Master ICly (having flight training doesn't mean you have a license), then they're already restricted.

basically what you're saying is: the logic is full of holes, the enforcement isn't even going to be IC, thus making it pointless, lastly: Nothing is stopping Black-Hand Flight-masters (peeps with the license) to arrange their own travel-plans to execute the corpse drops.

B. this edict, isn't going to prevent the actual murders.

If it doesn't, then it doesn't. It's not an OOC demand for it to stop. I'm quite aware that the Black Hand could ICly find ways to circumvent it if they wished, and they are certainly welcome to do so. It's an in-character flavor response indicating heightened security in response to the drops.

Also, there may be some in-game enforcement. SWR have been undergoing gryphon training, afterall, in response to the Black Hand's regular use of flying mounts. Either way, just because there might be no player aerial guardsmen doesn't mean they don't exist.

Honestly, why can't people complain ICly instead of OOCly about these kind of developments? That'd be refreshing.

Aye, we take them IC in the hand, though. We either watch for awhile and dive down between them (always at night), or, drop them from quite high. Again, I personally find it uncreative and I'm aware it gets tedious for people to "clean up" ICly, but people want their bodies found. We can try to find different ways, as mentioned, though!

Ouch! No, don't do that! We ministers don't get a say in all matters, this is all Areyah's fault!

But on a serious note, I never understood dropping a body from a flying mount. This is a city where everything is lit by lanterns - so at night, it isn't exactly bright - you have plenty of shadow to move around in and avoid normal guard patrols. There's also magic - not all of Stormwind will be warded. You could even have the corpse walk beside you in the day, a wig and some shades, no one is the wiser (when I did it, I used my DK to puppet the dead body and have it place itself in the point he wanted!) You could also use the sewage system, if you don't mind getting your hands dirty. But sneaking around Stormwind at night isn't rocket science, it'd take some skill, but there are no CCTVs to catch up, nor fingerprint scanners to pin you to the scene of the crime. Improvise!

Walking around Stormwind on a death knight who isn't Ebon is -very much- not something we will risk. ICly, we would be arrested then killed, or just outright killed.

Moving around with a corpse in front of guards and so on--and we take the guards ICly--would also be a terrible idea!

I'm gonna brainstorm, myself, but walking around the city on my DK (who is known by description or sight to many) is not an option xD

I got a solution. Dump a body in place X. Send the regiment a map per mail with how to find X.

The Black Hand have used rather drastic measures to dump bodies into the city.

It's perfectly reasonable to think that the tactics to counter these drop-offs would be as equally drastic.

When dropping off a corpse, I take -all- NPC's ic. I've sat for quite a lot of time observing the gryphon riders routes and the street patrols + players.

I shall see what I do :-)

Yeah that's what someone posted above, Melnerag. I liked it. That said, the Regiment might get quickly annoyed at having to search them out... although that's ICly quite realistic. My concern is that it'll make -boring- RP and that people won't bother, but only one way to find out!

...Also, didn't you know that death knights can't use mailboxes? This is a little-known fact. When we want to send messages, we have to find a man, carve it into his chest and send him to the messagee. It's such a drag!

To me, personally, the Black Hand is similar to a wasp sting.

I have yet to be stung by a wasp. I believe that's one of the reasons why I don't freak out when I see one and I'm not afraid of spraying the crap out of a wasps' nest when I find one. The stuff kills them almost instantly and lingers for two weeks, even killing on contact when it's dry.

The Black Hand...I ain't afraid of it. SO THE REAPER CAN GO WHISTLE UP A TREE, NYAH!

Send a box containing the victim's hand clutching the his/her heart accompanied by a note with said victim's name, to a randomly chosen law-abiding, Stormwindian citizen, by messenger boy?

Scar an innocent for life, make the guards seem scandalously incompetent to the general populace, and make your killing known to the world, all in one move.

Evil and creativity goes hand in hand, one without the other means nothing Twisted Evil

*notes name* ...Moving on ;D

This amused me and I wished to share it. The new air space restriction was brought up at the council meeting:

[Paozi Wulong] says: All right. So, here I was, flying my kite from the big purple tower to the docks, right?
[Paozi Wulong] says: And a few mean-spirited hoodlums in blue armor charged at me and tried to knock me off and take it form me.
[Paozi Wulong] says: Asking for some kind of liscence or some nonsense of the other.
[Paozi Wulong] says: ...And they took my kite!
[Paozi Wulong] says: You take away an innocent old pandaren's kite?
[Paozi Wulong] says: I need that. For flying.
[Paozi Wulong] says: I demand an explenation for this thievery.

[Paozi Wulong] says: <Low, to Xia-Jing> This is fun, huh?
[Paozi Wulong] says: <Low, to Xiao-Jing>, I don't even have a kite, ha-ha.

Had tears in my eyes, man. Long live Paozi.
