I support this however I would suspect outland could be separated into its individual provinces.. monrena for example is from Zangromarsh, and mabie name outland its proper ic name of draonar? or however you spell it

Well, dividing it into all provinces I think will make the list endless. There are not that many in Outlands anyhow, and one can specify the province in their character sheet.

Also, Outlands = Draenor then?

Still need help completing the list also (see first page)

I don't see Ironforge on the above list, any good reason for it not being included there?

The list is like this currently. As you can see, many regions need to be included in the nations (for example, what regions was included in the human Lordaeron? As said, need help here cause I'm not all that ace with lore xD). Also need to get help starting to add all Horde regions/nations.

Stormwind - Elwynn, Westfall, Duskwood, Redridge
Gilneas - Gilneas
Stromgarde - Arathi Highlands
Alterac - Alterac Mountains
Lordaeron, Human -
Lordaeron, Forsaken -
Dalaran - Dalaran
Draenor - Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh, Terokkar Forest, Nagrand, Blade´s Edge Mountains, Netherstorm, Shadowmoond Valley
Northrend - Howling Fjord, Grizzly Hills, Zul'Drak, Dragonblight, Crystalsong, Storm Peaks, Icecrown, Sholazar Basin, Borean Tundra
Ironforge - Dun Morogh, Loch Modan, The Hinterlands

Western Plaguelands, Eastern Plaguelands, Silverpine Forest, Tirisfal Glades and Hillsbrad Foothills would belong to the Kingdom of Lordaeron, the old human one.

Darkshore, Felwood, Teldrassil, Hyjal, Ashenvale Forest and Feralas are, or were, lands belonging to the elves. I'm about 70% sure Winterspring and Moonglade also belong to the elves.
Not sure about Stonetalon Mountans and Desolace. There are some small elven bases there, but I'm not sure if they were there thousands of years ago.

I believe Mulgore would belong to Thunderbluff since the city is located in that area.

I'm also suggesting a template something along these lines (trying to have the same one for everyone would look neater, just sayin'!):

Character name: Name
Alias: Alias
Gender: Female
Age: Age
Race: Race
Class: Class

Birth region: Stormwind
Specific area/town: Goldshire
Family: None alive
Known friends or enemies: Secret!

Description: Pretties in the world
Personality: A jolly lass!
History: Secret
Things you may know about this character: That she is awesome
Things you may not know about this character: That she is a noob
Possible crime record: Never done a bad thing in her life!

Any thoughts?

Re: Character Profiles

Eh, are you making a sub category for every region? 'cause that will get messy/confusing. I'd say just let the person specify where they're from, everyone knows roughly the regional lands surrounding big cities, like Elwynn/Westfall = Stormwind and The Barrens/Durotar = Orgrimmar etc.
I think it'd be better having Alliance, Horde and Neutral (neutral places being like Stranglethorn since it's neither horde or alliance occupied, same with Burning Steppes etc, and just go by it like that.

As for the template, I'd include a personality heading, and perhaps known friends and enemies, known crimes or what ever. Smile

If you look at your forst post I made a list there. The thought would be a forum for the nations in bold really (and then in the description mentioning which regions this include).

One could also do Alliance, Horde, Neutral of course. But that would be confusing with Lordaeron for example (if a person is Alliance/Human born in old Lordaeron for example).

Ohh, right sorry I misunderstood. Well, how about just sticking all the non-faction occupied regions in a Neutral Region or something? or is that a bit sketchy :S
Also Orgrimmar - Durotar, The Barrens, Aszhara ..right?

Ironforge - Dun Morogh, Loch Modan, The Hinterlands

The Hinterlands fall under Wildhammer region, together with the Twilight Highlands. Perhaps you can have a Blackrock Mountain, Ironforge and Aerie Peak, for the various dwarven players?

*Edit* Also as I said earlier, Alterac is by right Lordaeronian ground since the Second War.

Re: Character Profiles

Post by Sohan on Sat Dec 29, 2012 8:28 am

Since WoW is down I decided to do some loresearching what areas belong to what kingdom. Here's what I came up with.

Stromgarde - Arathi Highlands and Tol Barad (("During the Second War, it was an island citadel of Stromgarde." - WoW Wiki, Tol Barad))
Kul Tiras - Kul Tiras and Tol Barad (("[...] after the Second War, the island nation of Kul Tiras claimed the former stronghold." - WoW Wiki, Tol Barad))

I'm not sure if Stromgarde was using the island before the war. Because if it wasn't, it's highly unlikely someone was born on it.

Gurubashi Empire - Stranglethorn Vale
Stormwind - Deadwind Pass
Ironforge:
- Burning Steppes, Searing Gorge ((Both belonged to the mountain area of Redridge Mountains before the exiled Dark Iron dwarves moved there and summoned Ragnaros))
- Badlands ((It lies in the continent of Khaz Modan and therefore it belongs to Ironforge, even though the dwarves are not controlling the area.))
- Wetlands

Silvermoon - Quel'Thalas
Orgrimmar - Durotar
Goblins (Neutral) - Tanaris

In my opinion, these areas are not apart of any specific kingdom (e.i. neutral):
- Shimmering Flats
- Blasted Lands
- Swamp of Sorrows
- Thousand Needles
- Un'Goro Crater (If one does the questlines in there it is said to have some connection with the titans)
- Silithus (It was once a part of the Aqiri kingdom, but it is now uninhabited)

If anything is wrong, please let me know! Smile

I think Erahn and Zalissa together are inadvertently identifying the issue with categorising region by nation - not only are political/national boundaries ambiguous, but there are large swathes of contested territory that need some way to be identified.

I would propose just using subcontinental regions to make things simpler and less contentious.
- For EK: Azeroth, Khaz Modan and Lordaeron (and possibly Quel'thalas, although it's often considered part of the Lordaeron subcontinent)
http://www.wowpedia.org/images/9/94/AzerothLoC.JPG
http://www.wowpedia.org/images/e/e1/KhazModan.JPG
http://www.wowpedia.org/images/d/d9/WoWLordaeron.jpg
- For Kalimdor: Northern Kalimdor, Central Kalimdor and Southern Kalimdor
http://www.wowpedia.org/images/a/a3/Northkalimdor.JPG
http://www.wowpedia.org/images/0/02/Centralkalim.JPG
http://www.wowpedia.org/images/9/98/Southernkalim.JPG
- And then generic Draenor/Outland, Northrend and Pandaria options.

Any thoughts?

Maybe an "island" section as well? For places such as Kezan, Wandering Isle, and the Darkspear isles?
