[H] The Blood Brokers

Post by Sil/Akechi on Tue Jun 21, 2011 2:53 pm

What are we?

The Blood Brokers are a group that deal with the trading, buying and selling of information but also branch into mercenary activites. Other factions and individuals may take full use of our services for the right price. Morality does not come into play with the work we accept:we will help upholders of the law bring fiends to justice, we will kill someone if another desires it and we will assist in war.

What services do you give exactly?

The main services we offer in terms of RP is:
Assassination
Protection
Escort
Coersion
Information gathering (Deception Method and 'Polite Forcibility' Method)
Message delivering (Death threats, envoys, love letters etc.)
Spying
War Reinforcement

Anything else is pretty much available upon request. Jobs are taken in by those that are second in command, known as Consuls'. (The guild leader although being 'The Blood Broker' as such, RPs' as a Consul and doesn't reveal his true identity)

Officers of The Blood Brokers

The main officers of the Blood Brokers at the moment are:
Consul Akechi Shadowstorm
Consul Cootie Shadowstorm
Consul Talasseus Ebondusk
Consul Yrenicus Ban'dinoriel (Out the game, panbread, kicked the bucket, sleeping with the fishes)

Sub-Officers of the Blood Brokers at the moment are:
Reaver Lorthan Runeblade

The Blood Brokers are currently based at Hammerfall, reinforcing the Horde and keeping an eye on the surrounding area.

I like RP'ing with them! I did disprove of a lot of their names, but I guess we all have silly moments. XD

Although the DK marrying the living elf kinda gave me the creeps a while back! DK's need to hurt things... Not love them! XD

^Aye, there was a massive cleanup a while back. Whether DK's can still have feelings is an argument I don't want to start though; because at least the enduring friendship between Thassarian and Koltira Deathweaver comes to mind (and for that matter how Thassarian chose to spare Koltira's brother out of sentimentality or whatever the reason was, even though he was still Scourge)... but I agree what that member did was a little much... We would have adviced against it if it happened today, since as Morinth says DK's literally -do- need to hurt things or face the withdrawals they get. xD Best would have been if he made a new character if he wanted to RP a lovey dovey marriage, but it's a moot point now, since we did a complete overhaul of the guild since then and the player in question is not even in it anymore.

Why would it not be? Fair enough, we are kinda lax with RP names so long as they don't break the 4th wall of immersion, but people both in the real world and in WoW have all sorts of names, and for that matter nicknames, that would seem both silly and strange to others. For example, there is an ingame Blood Elf NPC named "Doris", not to mention Haris Pilton in Shattrah, although that character was obviously just made with silliness in mind. In any case, humans can think up all sorts of "strange" names for their children, and seeing as Eversong Woods is scattered with drunks and all sorts of quirky NPC's, I don't see why Blood Elves would hold themselves to higher standards than humans in NAMES of all things.

Is "Cootie" a stereotypical name that will show up in online fantasy name generators? No. But it is an original name, it is not offensive, and so long as the RP is fun, who really gives a shit?

Haris Pilton is an npc for comedy effect. Razz Doris is an actual name. Cootie is a name that I immediately thought was to slander blood elf players, due to the player obviously thinking they're all girly kissy kissies. Having Cooties. Very Happy It's... rather offensive to serious belf RP'ers.

Well, I said likewise about Haris. Razz But several other RP'ers also have rather silly names for comedic effect, it works nicely and to my knowledge they are well-liked by the "serious belf RP'ers", and the community at large. This strikes me as cherry-picking to be honest. Doris is indeed an actual name, but it's just like naming your Blood Elf "Paul" or "Tom". And again as for Cootie's name, I guess it's fair enough you would think something like that, seeing as this is the server that is plagued by Goon Squad and a lot of haters, but even so; you know what happens when we assume, don't you? Wink It was not intended in the way you described, so should not be taken in that offensive manner. It actually suits her character rather well once you've gotten to know her ICly. All I'm saying is give people a chance before going "lol wtf?", there is far too little spontaneous cross-guild RP going on as it is.

It's fair enough if other guilds have stricter name rules than us, but this is how we do it, and out of respect I actually tend to say "Consul Shadowstorm" when I RP with other guilds, just for that reason. I just don't appreciate it when people pop in, single out the one thing they don't like, and only comment on that. (At least not when it's worded the way it was by the poster a few clicks up) As I said, to me it is a rather trivial thing; I don't think it's worth excluding people over, and it's better if players pick a name/character they like and can stick with. Cootie would never RP another character full-time, so it's either this or nothing. If it is such an eyesore, it is easy to just ignore, use the last name, or even pretend it is a nickname. =)

Her other RP character is 'Tealeaf'. XD Which I've met on several occasions and had all of my emotes, plus my crews emotes ignored. I've been asked to give her a second chance by Akechi/Para, but I'm quite... tentative. XD

Well that's up to you. ^^ I don't know what history you two have, I just thought the name alone wasn't enough to warrant a negative attitude. I personally have no problem with her RP; maybe she lagged or temporarily DC'd when you had those emotes ignored, but I don't care to speculate. I definitely think you should give her a second chance though; she is not a loller, she is an agreeable and reasonable person OOC, and after the guild reform I have set up official guide-lines to our members for what is appropriate behavior IC and not - guide-lines that she seems to follow closer than any other member.

I understand if you are "tentative" Razz But I think anyone that wants to clean up their act should be given a chance to do so.

Hey guys ^_^ Just like to mention that the name 'Cootie' is actually taken from a Scottish fairy tale, Cootie is a Princess in the story. That is where the name was chosen from. Which to be honest seems a bit unfair to criticise someones' name considering they based it upon something else, which I guarantee alot of people do. I've seen RPers' named after Lord of the Rings languages, Mass Effect characters, Elder Scrolls characters, Game of Thrones characters etc.

Once more, in terms of RP, Blood elves couldn't really view 'Cootie' as being a bad name as IC it has no connections to the childish game I am sure quite a few of us remember XD

Course when these names were created along with the various stories that tied with them, many of the players taking part were either new to RP or unaware of the 'non-written RP rules'. I personally will not discourage someone from the guild for having a strange name, to a certain extent. Things such as: 'Cowman' 'DudeRox' or anything to that degree is most certainly a no.

As previously mentioned, we have cut down on the volume of Lolrpers' within the guild and the 'purging' we did before managed to take out the previous ones we had. We now have a simply policy: major cases of lolrp get an immediate kick, low cases of lolrp respond with a three strike scenario. We do keep a record of the strikes, the time it was done and a rough brief on what was done, just for future reference.

Thanks for your time all ^_^ I hope this answers some queries and makes any feelings more peaceful, lets just enjoy the RP community with each other and have some fun, it is a game after all =]

Any questions or complaints, feel completely free to whisper me. All my characters I RP on are displayed in my sig below.

Please, don't take this as an assault, but I am genuinly interested in the story behind it. But I can't find a Princess Cootie on Google or Wikipedia...

Apart from that, I am sure you are doing fine. ^^

My name has been explained several times. Very Happy It was Morynth originally which I thought was very elven. My guild at the time said I should go with Morinth. Now I know why. Wink

And Cootie... I'm Scottish. There's not fairy tale in my knowledge about cooties. XD

I'll call her Consul too when I see her, I feel silly shouting Cootie. As my character has a habit of spying on everyone passing through SMC, so it would be in no way OOC. And she knows her. Wink

To be really honest here, When I was trying to get into Mornith's on Tealeaf. I was still new to RP, and was still learning, and when I was told about the emotes thing, which I didn't even realise I was ignoring, I got annoyed with myself and I am deeply sorry about.

Next thing, I do not think you will find the story on google, My Mother used to tell me it has a child. "Rashin-Cootie" is not a story about Cooties, It is a Scottish version of "Cinderella".

If you pronounce it like a true Scotsman, it has a hint of c-oo-tay. =3

I'm scottish... Razz Proper scottish. 'oo' is how the English would say it. We give it a rugged COHTAY. RAWWRR. With much growling and emphasis on our 'R's.

Did we make the announcement yet? *looks around* We have not made the announcement yet.

*ahem*

The Blood Brokers mourn the passing of their Consul, Yrenicus Ban'dinoriel. His apprentice, Talasseus Ebondusk, has stepped up to take over Consul duties, but it is doubtful that he can ever fill the void in our hearts. Ban'dinoriel met his end in a peaceful, dignified way, and the Blood Brokers adamantly reject the rumors that he in any way was rallying dissenters within the organization. A quick ceremony has already been held, and though we say farewell to the Consul, we know that he will always live on in our memories.

*steps down from soap box*

Feel free to use the above information IC, but I won't post it in the official rumors thread since, while it's out there, one would have to have an interest in our organization to have a chance to hear about it.

OOC reasons for this would basically be, that Yren was my first RP character and I did a lot of rookie mistakes with him. In the end it was too much to just retcon it all, so while I've had some good time with him, this was the best thing to do in order to promote good RP. If nothing else it sets an example for our own recruits.

Akechi will update the officer's list in the OP soon.

Yrenicus will be an OOC character on which I'll hunt achievements and help the guild with raids.

Talasseus Ebondusk, the new consul, will be my new RP main, but I will be switching a lot more between alts. I got a goblin merchant and a stealthy rogue whose stories I'm hoping to expand on as well! Very Happy
