To be more precise, it is air vibrating, so it would be the element air I think.

none of the above, as sound travels through multipe mediums... and ironically fastest through water.

Hmm, maybe sound magic would fit with nature magic, both have that "oscillation" (i love that word) between two different states.

Yes it would most likley fall into the realm of nature magic ( I believe in game it's also classed as nature magic). Essentially it's not the sound itself that is the magial counterpart it's the way it's manifested.

My above use of the comparison to the destructive force of chaos energy was that of simple concussive force. A sonic blast is nothing more then pure raw concussive force (which lets face it is present in any explosion and is the reason explosions are dangerous).

I would assertain the method is using the powers of nature magic to manifest properties of the elements around it to create sound. Which would be a solid, liquid or gas. Or.. if you will. Air, Water, Earth. (if you look beyond water being only part of the frost magic realm ofc).

Yes I know there's a little bit of science in there but only enough to give grounding i'd say. Bottom line, Sonic/Sound would most logically be the realm of Natural Magics.

i suppose sound magic in theory then doesnt exist... as "sound blasts/waves" would be a result of either a physical/evolutionary attribute, or modifying/manipulating a spell to create burst's of sound... be it druidic, fire, arcane... or possibly any other element or combination at its source.

Some kind of shrieking attack would most likely be an evolutionary quirk that's supported by magic, while a sound burst with concussive properties is a wave of kinetic energy thransmitted through a medium, something like Murmur doesn't strike me as something that comes into existance like an elemental, but more something that has been engineered to be like that.

I thought the lore surrounding Murmur were very explicit about the fact that he was summoned (presumably from the elemental plane).

Murmur is an incredibly powerful elemental born when the Universe was created, about whom little is known. The Shadow Council inhabiting the Shadow Labyrinth summoned it for their nefarious purposes, but seem to be having trouble keeping him under control. Its history is briefly documented in the Codex of Blood, which reveals Murmur is the primordial essence of sound.

We'll have to take a good look and determine in what elemental plane he fits then.

I don't think even blizzard knows, tbh. Given how much they seem to like making up new shit on the spot to facilitate whatever history they're in the process of telling, I doubt the WoW mythos is intended to be consistent at such a detailed level.

Consider it IC theorizing, it needn't be correct, but it's sure as hell more fun than just ignoring it.

I don't expect my wall of text to be correct, as long as it's plausible/possible.
